Alka Rai made her father Colonel MN Rai and the entire nation tear up

Colonel MN Rai

Our late night post about “Haiders” of Kashmir hailing the slain terrorists as martyrs and attending their funeral in large numbers invited a lot of comments like:
“After all they were human too”
“Everyone deserves a funeral”
Guys, this very attitude of ours, this overflowing benevolence, this nauseatingly sweet humanitarian side has cost us the lives of so many soldiers and civilians. Let us stop being defensive and let us stop denying the obvious. You know they were not humans. They were a threat to the whole human race. And yes they DIDN’T deserve a funeral, let alone a grand one. They led an overall useless life and feeding their carcasses to dogs could have brought some meaning to their pointless lives.
Call us inhuman or insensitive but do not expect nice cute posts about a terrorist’s funeral.

All India Bakchod knockout

A few days ago, All India Bakchod released their roast of Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. As roasts go, it was good - everyone was squirming in their seats. I found some jokes really good, and many were okay: repetitive, predictable and just...not funny.
However, I have one main grouse against the roast: Karan Johar and the gay jokes.
I would have had no problem if KJo had been roasted by other gay men. I would have applauded him if he had come out of his closet and then got ripped to shreds. But what he failed to realize was that he, as an extremely rich celebrity living in a very metropolitan city surrounded by power and money and prestige, can insulate himself from a lot of insult, abuse and general homophobia that infests the country.
If you noticed, the KJo roast was not at all focused on KJo the man: it was merely a roast of a gay, rich, slutty sugar daddy who can buy all the sex he wants and force or coerce others to do what he wants them to do.
I know some people will argue that humour is an attempt to normalize taboo topics in society, but to them, my question is this: when being gay is a social taboo and practically a crime, is KJo justified in thinking that he can use that stage as a personal therapist's couch? By roasting him for being a submissive, effeminate, lustful homosexual man, and ONLY THAT AND NOTHING ELSE, are the roasters helping their own gay friends in any way?
I am not sure how many of you have gay friends who are out to you, but if there are, do ask them what they feel about this issue.
What if we made fun of someone's caste this way?

Jayanthi Natarajan's letter to Sonia Gandhi

Much like everything else, Politics is also ever evolving.
What was once an illustrious national party, led by leaders who fought for our freedom, is now of no real significance. Jayanthi Natarajan's letter to Sonia Gandhi, and her decision to quit the sinking ship, just adds to the downslide of the Indian National Congress.
And for the best!
With the INC out of the game in all real terms, what's prevailing in Delhi, is a battle between AK49 and Crane Bedi.
The people that they are, their ideologies and the backing that they have.
There's a lot of similarity between the two. From both looking like men who are perpetually feeling cold, to displaying a love for art and culture, by breaking into song and dance routines given an opportunity, to the fact that at a micro, human level they are both decent people with integrity, a dream and the willingness to work hard.
What is of importance then is what happens to "we the people", when either come in as Delhi's CM.
Scenario 1: AK as CM ~
With AAP controlling Delhi and Modi as PM, the conflict of interest will actually ensure that the policy decisions taken are most in favour of Delhi. Modi has gained our trust and delivered, and while AK's methods may have been faulty, his heart is not in the wrong place ~ and after his last stint, and having had some more time playing this game, there are chances he'll be able to better manage the seat. A powerful Opposition at the Centre would also ensure proper governance...something Modi had done for about 12 years in Gujarat as CM.
With AK as CM, the changes will happen from the top thanks to Modi and from the bottom, thanks to AK ~ and the gain should be all Delhi's!
Scenario 2: KB as CM ~
Kiran Bedi is also a crusader against corruption and a woman who's felt the pulse of Delhi at the grassroot levels. She is also a good choice and given her background, she possesses all the necessary knowledge and tools. But the looming question is, if she becomes CM, will she be able to take a stand if there is a conflict between what she believes is best and in what BJP believes is best? Will she do what's good for the people or will she do what's good for her party and her position in it? Also, given the internal conflicts among the BJP leadership in Delhi, her challenge will also be to hold the reins against any revolt from within.
When there are 2 decent people fighting, the bigger spectrum needs to be analysed.
It's like the prisoner's dilemma in Game Theory.
With an inherent conflict of interest, Delhi's interest will remain paramount!

Who supplies powerful and the most modern weaponry, arms and ammunition to terror groups?

Who supplies powerful and the most modern weaponry, arms and ammunition to terror groups? Is it such a clandestine and untraceable activity for the superpowers and G8s and G20s to track and find that out? The manufacturers and buyers are known, the transaction of money trail can be picked up. Then what's stopping these powers to block these channels other than vested interests?

Are We Really The Emerging Super Power?

As per confirmed reports, a three-year old girl was raped in South Delhi on 24 January and then dumped in the bushes to die.
The victim is said to be out of danger, but for girls and women
across the country, the danger still lurks.
As India woke up to a lot of optimism and celebration today, a
lesser, often forgotten India also woke up to a sad reality that has existed for long, but hardly cared for except intermittently, when it is politically convenient, when no foreign dignitaries are due to arrive in the country.
Make no mistake, we are proud of our nation for what it is today.
But even as Puja Thakur became the first Indian woman to lead the
guard of honour, the honour of a tiny tot was left unguarded only to be ravaged by a savage.
Tanks, missiles and heavily armoured marching contingents of the
armed forces, the paramilitary and police forces interspersed with brass and pipe bands marching in perfect unison
did nothing to protect this child.
We are too quick to install 15000 CCTVs overnight to ensure Obama's safety, but too lazy to install few after Nirbhaya's Rape Nationwide Outrage.
We are the nation in which farmers commit suicide everyday, and wisemen defend the government by throwing up numbers that show how farmer suicides occur in other countries too!
We are the nation in which politician increase their own salaries in a single parliamentary session but our brave soldiers have to wait for
the next pay commission to get a raise.
And to the respected hardcore patriots shaking their heads in disagreement and asking us to stop defaming our nation, asking us to stop talking and start doing, we would humbly like to point out that we are common people just like you, and our role in nation-building is that of a responsible medium of information (Unlike other media houses whose idea of a more informed citizen is someone who knows what Sherwani Kunal Khemu wore on his wedding with Soha Ali Khan).
We are as much concerned about our nation and it's people, as you are. We believe that we cannot claim to be well-informed if our first reaction to challenges is to bury our heads in the sand like an ostrich.
We request our community members to kindly share their humble opinions and views with us!

Uber rape case Delhi INDIA

Uber rape case fighter breaks her silence,
says “the city has failed her”
On that night of December 5, when she walked out after having dinner with her friends, she chose taxi, said to be one of the safest option to reach home in Delhi. While selecting the Uber cabs to avail its facility, she was just not paying for the cab, but also for the brand name that promises one of the safest rides on the road. But circumstances had something else in the pocket for her.
Breaking the silence for the first time, the Uber rape case fighter, and not just the victim, mentioned with great disappointment that “the city has failed her”. There were patrols deployed as preventive measures. The cab company that promises trust and safety to its customers, did not even had a proper background verification done for the driver. More shockingly, they had guts to keep a driver on board with them, against whom they had received complaints of misconduct from other female passengers. There irresponsible and negligent behavior made an irreversible loss
to her and family.
A lady who protested on roads to get justice for Nirbhaya in 2012, never thought, she herself will stand in same shoes some day. She says, “Isn’t it ironic that the Uber driver had the audacity to threaten me by saying he would use an iron rod on me? Instead of being deterred, this man actually used the December 16 gang rape to scare and assault a woman. This shows the kind of example the system and the government has set for such crimes. No strong message has been sent out to society. It hasn't deterred the criminals. There are hundreds of other, similar cases”.
The incident has deeply impacted her psyche, and she finds it difficult to sleep as the memories and fear of that night keep haunting her. Despite all the pain she underwent, this courageous lady decided to fight for the wrong that was done to her and hopes for stringent punishment for the accused which can be sent as a strong message to the society that any such violence against women will not be tolerated, else we will fail as a system, as a society, as a country and as a human. Among all this, she does not forget to appreciate the work done by police and kind of efficiency and humbleness that was showcased by the delhi police.
Notwithstanding the pain, the society instead of strengthening her, has made it further difficult for her to move out. She mentions that her neighbors have started questioning her dignity. Her relatives and friends question her decision of filing a report and scare her of getting a bad name. She finds it difficult to cope up with the pressure and as a result she has stopped moving out alone. Nevertheless, the world still has some good souls and many of her friends are with her in this fight for justice. Her colleagues and superiors are supporting her in progressing well and the office is helping her with the counselors.
In between, all the pain and trauma, stands a strong lady, confident about her struggle and wants everyone of us to introspect ourselves. “What if a girl does not have a brother or a husband or a male guardian to tag along, should a girl stop going out and sit at home? Trying to overcome her fear of loneliness, she says, “Girls also have right to live, to work peacefully, and to go out without fear. I will think twice before going out alone and most of the girls do. It is important to kill this fear and for that increased patrolling in city during night
is required. Safe cab rides with proper checks done and traceability
system should be in place. Women driven cabs will also help to a
deeper extent in building the trust back. And the sensitization of
public is important. People tend to avoid instances that involve
dealings with police and court. This thinking needs to be changed.
The women should be given more opportunities to reduce the male
dominance in the indian society.” She ends the discussion saying
the youth of India has the most important role to play. They need to
“Speak up, see something, say something. Don’t be quiet.”
